After a week of lovely warm sunshine we returned to March winds at the beginning of April, accompanied by April showers. Well the only good that came from that was the rain which has given the garden a good soaking and has saved me a job. However the winds brought an even bigger job - our side fence blew down into the neighbour's garden.
Fortunately we have good neighbours on all three sides and two are helping us to replace the side and bottom fence which moved 6 inches too and fro when the wind blows strongly.
So while we are on the subject of neighbours - we were once told by a neighbour in Cornwall that he didn't give a damn about his neighbours - he was only concerned with himself and his own family. So what are his neighbours going to do when he climbs a ladder, falls, and breaks a leg or has some such disaster - well, of course, they will be good neighbours and go to his aid.
We see our neighbours as our friends. One never knows when one might need them. My motto is - show them consideration, keep in their good books, and do them a good turn when you can - you never know when you might need them - especially when old age catches up with you.
