An Unwelcome Visitor

An Unwelcome Visitor.—Not many nights since, a single gentleman, residing this neighborhood, on entering his bed-room for the purpose of seeking repose after the fatigues of the day, was rather roughly treated by an impudent intruder secreted in the room, who suddenly, and without the least warning, rushed him and knocked the candle out of. his hand, leaving him in total darkness. Although much discomposed, he managed to find his candle, and having got another light, went pursuit of his unwelcome guest, which he afterwards discovered to be large half-starved dog that had got into the house by a window which had been left partly open.
