The Spider and the Fly

The Spider and the Fly

“Will you walk into my parlour?” said the Spider to the Fly,
"Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there.
You've only got to pop your head  in side of the door
You'll see many curious things you've never seen before.
My house is always open, said the spider to the fly
I'm glad to have the company of all I see go by;"
"They go in, but don't come out again
I've heard of you before.”
Oh yes they do, I always let them out at my back door."

“Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
- can ne'er come down again.

[Nevertheless flies do find themselves caught in spiders webs and once there find themselves in the spider's trap!]
