Time for a revolution, I think.

When you look around our society today are you shocked by the amount of selfishness and arrogance which has crept in it over the last 30, 40 , 50 years? I am! and I wonder whether this has been caused by people making their own rules. Having no faith or no longer being guided by one.

I follow no particular religion and have no wish to persuade anyone to do so, but I can certainly see that the loss of those teachings, once part of family life, has had a terrible affect on our society. Many who have ‘dumped God’ have chosen to be guided by no-one but themselves. They set their own rules without thought - and what a hash they are making of it.

Basically their rules are they don‘t really care whether their behaviour causes discomfort to anyone else, and their attitude is ‘I don’t give a damn about you or whether I offend you. I'm doing what I want. Put up with it.’ Arrigance, indeed.

While the rest of us are trying to obey the rules of decent society, rules which guide us through our lives without too much friction, so that we live a reasonably honest life, and show consideration for the feelings of others, we now have this other group to contend with. They behave selfishly, do what they please, generally breaking the rules of decent behaviour while creating havoc around themselves - but even worse - around us.

Unfortunately sometimes some normally decent people feel forced to join them for a time because that is the way some parts of our society is today.

Decent people should realise that these people who believe they can set their own rules, and are trying to impose it on the rest of us, have massive character weaknesses including selfishness and arrogance. They follow no rules but their own which they are trying to impose upon the rest of us, while making  a thorough mess while they do so.

And there lies another of their character weaknesses - they do not take responsibility for their behaviour. They are unable to recognise that selfishness is a human weakness in all of us which we 'lesser’ folk struggle against for most of our lives.

They take pride in their selfishness and arrogance and see no need to change their behaviour, and often believe they are amusing. They do not know how to show consideration to others. Their behaviour gives them a feeling of superiority which secretly leaves us seething because we recognise they are ignorant aliens, parasites, and we are unable to correct them because we would only get more of the same if we did. We are allowing them to take control of us, the majority who live by the rules of decent society.

So - we are forced to listen to their foul language and their selfishness, their arrogance and their attitude of ‘I don’t have to follow your rules’ and ’you are wrong and I am right‘ and ‘Get into the real world’.

In their selfish ignorance they do not seem to realise they are openly revealing the flaws in their character - weaknesses in their personality - and are encouraging those who wonder why they have to follow rules, to behave badly. And there lies anarchy.

Are you one of them who passes us in the street. Are you becoming one of them - speaking their language at work - in the pub - on the sports field -  but not when you are with people you care for or work with?

Do you see them parading proudly in front of you on the television? Acting in plays and films? In the group on the corner, because they are often not particularly brave people and feel the need to go round in groups.

Do you recognise someone like this and do nothing?

Or is it you? Time for a revolution, I think.
