Sir Christopher Wren built St Pauls. What, he alone?

An organ recital took place many years ago at a time when organs had to be pumped by hand by a second man.
After the recital the man pumping the bellows said to the organist 'I think we performed well today.'
The organist replied sharply 'WE performed! I think it was I who performed, if I'm not mistaken.'

A short time later, during another recital, the man pumping the bellows stopped pumping and the organist called out angrily to him 'Why have you stopped pumping?'
The man came out from behind the organ and said to him  'Oh, so now its 'we', is it?

We forget that it takes more than one person to build a cathedral, run a railway, or run a country, although usually all the glory and fame goes to the man at the top.
