Play and exercise

When I was a little over four years old I contracted Rheumatic Fever which can affect the heart, and spent the next 18 months being treated for this illness and recuperating. Thirteen of these months were spent lying flat in bed under orders not to sit up or get out of bed consequently I lost the desire to run around and play.
After I was discharged no advice was given about exercise or physiotherapy and I was discouraged from over taxing my heart and since then I have never been able to sustain bouts of activity (working or playing) for longer than 20 or 30 minutes without feeling exhausted.

I wonder if those parents who allow their young children to spend hours in front of the TV or on a computer or game box,  really give any thought to the future for their children who should be out and about in the real world exercising through play, and who may find themselves unable to sustain activity  for more than 20 or 30 minutes when they are adults.
Good parenting, eh?
