Stargazing

How strange that so many people in the UK, and especially those in large villages, towns and cities, have never seen the night sky in all its glory.
Well, that's where us oldies have another thing in our favour. We lived through the war when the country was blacked out and whilst there were dangers of not being seen in the dark, or fumbling along a hedge to find ones way - on clear nights we had the reward of that wonderful sparkling night sky above us, and could stand in awe at the sight.
A better world now? In some ways, definitely not.
