Booker Taliaferro Washington April 5, 1856 – November 14, 1915) was an American educator, author, orator, and political leader and if you haven't heard of him - then read his book - Up from Slavery which was published in 1901.
His views of education and life, which he gives in his book, are ones which people many today, of whatever race, could learn a lesson. He was a realist and, I hope, he is still is an inspiration to many.
