How we (well by that I mean him and me) do complain about the little niggles we get. We're both 'getting on' as they say - we hit 80 next year - and, of course, at this age we should expect a few aches and pains. They are not life threatening, thank goodness, problem knees and hip, high blood pressure and cholesterol etc, all of which are taken care of by our wonderful NHS doctor. But, yes, we do still complain.
It's a bit like the person who complained because they had no shoes until they saw someone who had no feet.
It's true! We complain about the smallest niggles ignoring the health problems other people around us have - until we are stopped in our tracks when we discover someone close to us, perhaps someonewho is not there in our every day life, but nevetheless is 'special' to us, is desperately ill.
In our case it is someone who has not only been a first class mother but has also fostered children and given so much understanding and love to them, and who now has serious health problems herself.
So please, if you read this, say a little prayer to whatever higher being you believe in - for those people who are really staring at the possibility of death while trying to put on a brave face to everyone else.
And if you do not believe in a higher being - just go out and do someone a good turn today.
