Advice from an old wrinkly

It's all very well putting off things you want to do until you find the time or are retired - however there is a 'but' to this - firstly,  you may never find the time, and secondly when you are retired and find you have time to spare, your body starts telling you it is now longer possible.

As one ages and you pass 65 (and possibly before) your body will start suffering from wear and tear and this can mean not just medication but the inability to do simple things such as walk easily or sit comfortably, or bend to pick up something you have dropped, or squat to paint the skirting board or put in a bedding plant. It also means you may not be able to sit in a low chair, and if your do, you may be unable to get up without help.
While your brain is still mentally active, backs, knees and hips start to wear out and the body starts locking up. Often this means things are not going to get better and possibly the things you wanted to do, and places you wanted to travel to, are then beyond your reach.

Do it while you can and go while you can - because the day may come, perhaps sooner than you think, when you are no longer able to sit in a plane or car for several hours.

At 79 we are both pleased  we bought a camper and had a wonderful time travelling round the UK for several years, and went overseas to visit family, and places of interest because we couldn't do it now.
