Chillingham

Just back from two days - starting Newton on the Moor and staying at The Cook & Barker - wonderful food - good experience.

Day at Chillingham Castle - exhausting. First a visit to the local church to photograph some MIs in the churhyard. Then a walk through one of the gates up to the foot of the castle and back. The walk through woods from carpark to castle. Inside had a good wander round -  down to the dungeons and lots of torture exhibits. Then up and down, and along and round and up, and up and down, and down up stairs. Until we had no idea which way to the exit.

We overdid it a bit - and Joe had to fetch the car for me but his back wasn't much better than mine. I suppose it was a bit much for two 78 year olds.
Back to Newton on the Moor for an afternoon nap. Then dinner - recommend the pan cooked sea bass with asparagus, broccoli and new potatoes (my choice on both nights - it was so nice). Nice things about the meals there - they were't too big and NO chips - thank goodness - I am always put off by a huge plateful of chips - not one chip to be seen!
